Presidential Dollar Coin Release Schedule |
Beginning in 2007, the United States honored our Nations Presidents by issuing $1 circulating coins featuring their images in the order that they served. The United States Mint struck and issued four Presidential $1 coins per year, each with a reverse design featuring the Statue of Liberty. The composition of the new Presidential $1 Coins was identical to that of the Sacagawea Dollar. The Mint continued to produce the Sacagawea Dollar in quantities no less than one-third of the years total dollar mintage.
Below is the release schedule for the Presidential Dollars. Living Presidents were excluded from the series and would have only been added only if they had been deceased for two years prior to their coins release. Living Presidents when the Presidential Dollar coin series ended were Jimmy Carter, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.

* Initially, due to the U. S. Mint's
interpretation of the legislation authorizing the presidential
dollar coin program,
they announced that a $1 coin honoring President Ronald Reagan
would not be produced. However, in February 2015
they reversed their decision after urging from the chairman of
the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Monetary
Policy and Trade, Rep. William P. Huizenga, R-Mich.
